Nursery Notes: Figuring Out A Functioning Floor Plan
Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 9:43AM Contrary to Husband's belief, I think that our 900 square foot 2-bedroom apartment is going to feel pretty tight once our little Eggroll comes around. Our guest bedroom will have to double as the nursery because the crib just won't fit in our room. We don't have many guests stay over that often anyway, so I predict that queen-sized bed will mostly be used by me, after those late-night feedings. And I'm sure Husband will be thankful for the uninterrupted sleep, being that he has to be at work by 5am.
So I started thinking about the nursery floor plan and how all our furniture will fit into the 12'x13' room. The queen-sized bed is there to stay, as is the dresser/changing table and bureau I recently refinished. And of course, we've got the crib and glider/ottoman on the way too. A lot of furniture and not a lot of floor space. I was only able to come up with 2 variations for a functional floor plan. These diagrams are to scale and they seem to work in theory, but we'll see how it'll really feel once we get everything in there. Fingers crossed!

looks great! what program did you do these in?
I can't remember the name... but just google "nursery planner" - it should come up!
I totally feel your pain with apartment living! We don't have a baby on the way but I love how you're making the nursery and guest room a combo. I love your site by the way, tons of cute ideas!
