Dog Days of Summer

Last weekend we took a road trip to Virginia Beach. Watson's brother, Scrappy lives there, so we were able to drop by for a play date while passing through. After about an hour of sibling play time, we hit the beach. It was Watson's first beach experience and he had a ball. He was so funny to watch as he played in the tide, rolled around in the sand, and generally entertained everyone on the beach. Rhodesian Ridgebacks don't typically like the water, but it turns out our little boy loves it! Who'd have guessed...

How adorable! Dogs are so fun to watch at the beach; I saw a bunch when I was at the Outer Banks earlier this summer and they just made me smile! Unfortunately our dogs aren't huge fans of water so I think they prefer to stay at home. Too bad, they're missing out!

I've been reading along for several weeks (came here from Design*Sponge, I think) and I believe we live in the same area and both have military husbands... Hopefully you're enjoying the slightly cooler (can temps in the 90s really be cool?) weather we have this week!

hello! i just found your post from young house love and discovered that you have a rhodie! how fun, we have a 6 year old ridgback named Xander and we just love him! your pictures remind me of him as a puppy! Nice to know someone else has one, we just moved to a small town and everyone thinks he's a pit mix and when we tell them that he's a rhodesian ridgeback, they just look at me like i lost it :) Xander is amazing with our two little ones so i'm sure you'll have nothing to worry about with your new to be little one! Congrats and i can't wait to read more!

i have just recently come across your blog and was taken back by your dog. watson looks sooo much like my mutt mailey. people have often told me she looks like she has ridgeback in her, but i have never seen the resemblance until now.

Watson is the best! We're Ridgeback owners for life! They're such an amazing breed, but are very demanding and high energy, so they're not for the inexperienced dog owner, that's for sure. We love that he can keep up with our active lifestyle, so he's the perfect pup for us!

Hi - I just discovered your blog and I love it! Watson is super cute - my husband and I have a 12 month old ridgeback, they are such a great breed! We took her to the beach a few months ago and she loved to run around in the sand!!
