I must be caught in a creative thunderstorm

Because when it rains, it pours! Much to my excitement, of course. We’ve got another new song! And another new experience writing for someone else.

For my Kickstarter tour last Fall, one of the rewards for pledging money was that I’d write a song for the pledger. Well, it came time for one of my fans to collect. He wanted to give a song to his wife for Christmas and so I went to work. About an hour later, a new song was born (I find that the best ones usually just spill out in a matter of minutes)! I did a quickie recording via my trusty GarageBand program and sent it on over to him to approve. Turns out, he absolutely loved it! I was floored.

This way of writing is so new to me… and strangely fulfilling to write something that requires someone else’s approval. Being able to separate myself from my writing is so much more productive for me! I’m beside myself. Could it be? I’ve stumbled upon a bottomless well of possibilities. Holy crap, y’all. I’m a songwriter. Who knew?

Cleared for landing

We just received Adam’s orders! He is to report to Ft. Lee, Virginia on May 3, 2010 for a 6-month long Captain’s Career Course. So… Virginia, huh? Well, that’s one place I haven’t lived yet! As far as we know, we’ll only be there for the duration of his schooling, so who knows where we’ll end up by November 2010? Though I have mixed feelings about being an Army wife, I know Adam is happy to finally have a steady job again. Army adventures await… Hooah!
